Look Out, Sister!

Q. Dear Average Boy,

Every day my older sister comes into my room and asks if she looks OK. I don't understand why she has to always ask me. Why can't she ask someone else for a change? This really bothers me, and I'm afraid I'm going to lose my temper soon. Please help!

Thanks,
Kristen

A. Hey Kristen,

You should put your hands on the sides of her face, lightly pinch her cheeks and say, “You looks so cute! Yes you do!” That should stop her asking.

Or you could try these responses:

  • ”Look at me. What makes you think I know what looks good?”
  • ”Why? Do you think you need glasses?”
  • ”¿Habla español?” (Do you speak Spanish?)

Or just be honest with her. Tell her you are tired of her asking you if she looks good. And remind her it’s what’s inside that counts.

    Your friend and mine,
    Average Boy
