Home-School Advice

Q. Hi, Average Boy!

Were you seriously home-schooled!? I am home- schooled, too! Sometimes people don't understand how cool home schooling can be. Any suggestions?

P.S. You crack me up!

A. Hey, Homeschooled N. Lovinit!

Well, I'd say you have the right name for a home- schooled kid. I was home-schooled for a little while, but my mom said that other teachers needed to discover how special I am. So I went back to public school. My teachers can now see how much fun my mom had. They are also very willing to share me with her again. At the end of last year, my teacher sent Mom a bunch of articles about how good home schooling is for kids and even said they'd help set her up with the proper items to home school me again. Even though Mom says she isn't ready for that blessing, it's so great to see adults sharing like that!

I'm glad you are enjoying home-schooling. Home- schooling rocks! As far as making others understand, I don't think they can until they experience it. It's like getting chased by your cat and having to hide in your chimney. There's no way to explain that until the person is in that situation. At least my dad didn't understand when I tried explaining why I was covered in soot. Just smile and say, “Well, I love it.” And then thank God for your parents!
