adapted from Luke 19:1-9 by Leslie, 11, United Arab Emirates
Dear Diary,
I was shocked! How did Jesus know Father’s name? He isn’t like everybody else. Nobody likes tax collectors. But Jesus does. So Father came down and took Jesus to our house.
I’ve been wondering all afternoon, Why did Jesus come to our house? We’re not popular. Everyone hates our family. But Jesus loves us. I can feel it. So did Father. He felt it so much, he got out the money that he stole from everybody and said, "If I stole money from someone, I’ll pay them back four times as much." Wow! That’s a lot of money. But Father is happy now. He used to worry about how much money we had. I want to know more about this Jesus who turned Father’s life around.
Today Jesus came to Jericho! My father climbed a sycamore-fig tree. I felt so embarrassed to have my father sitting in a tree to see Jesus. I knew Jesus was special from the moment I saw Him. He said to Father, "Come down, Zacchaeus. I must stay at your house today."
