Squanto taught the pilgrims how to catch wild turkeys for food. Make this terrifically cute turkey out of a hat!
Gather
- medium size straw hat
- red, yellow, and brown felt
- scissors
- craft glue
- 6-inch peice of twine
- heavy paper
- feathers (red, brown, orange, and white)
- googly eyes
- 6-inch piece of ribbon
- black marker
Go
- Ask a parent to cut felt. You will need: o two yellow feet and one beak o eight brown diamonds o one red wattle
- Turn over hat and glue feet along bottom rim.
- Loop twine and glue to top rim to create a hanger.
- Cut a round piece of paper to cover the hole and glue to back.
- After back is dry, turn hat over and glue feathers around the top front rim.
- Glue felt diamonds on top of the feathers.
- Glue googly eyes, beak and wattle to raised part of hat for a face.
- Tie ribbon into a bow. Glue the bow to the bottom rim just below the turkey's face.
- Allow your turkey to dry. Then write Psalm 107:1 on the back: “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
- Hang on a door or window as a reminder to give thanks!
