Pickup Sticks
Gather
  • about 20 sticks of the same thickness
  • a clean, empty plastic peanut butter jar
  • two thick rubber bands
  • raffia or ribbon (at least 15 inches long)
  • craft glue
  • sunflower seeds, dried corn, small pebbles (optional)
Go
  1. Snap your sticks to about 1 inch longer than the jar. If the sticks are too thick, ask an adult to cut them.
  2. Put two rubber bands around the jar, an inch from the top and bottom.
  3. Tuck sticks under both rubber bands, placing each stick as close as possible to its neighbor.
  4. Once the jar is completely surrounded with sticks, slide the rubber bands to the middle.
  5. Tie the raffia arround the rubber bands and make a bow.
  6. Create a pattern by gluing seeds, corn and pebbles onto the sticks.
  7. Fill your vase with water and flowers.
