A Note From the Editors

Focus on the Family Clubhouse magazine strives to publish creative biblical content that builds children’s faith and encourages them to live for Christ. We appreciate the trust parents place in our publication.

You might have noticed that our new comic, Degrees of Kelvin, features alien characters.

As a ministry, Focus on the Family does not promote belief in extraterrestrial life. We also do not speculate about hypothetical souls in intelligent, nonhuman species.

In the case of this comic, author Jeff Gerke uses aliens as a symbol for an unreached people group. God’s truth is for all people, and salvation is available to everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. As the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:12, “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.”

Many early believers thought that the Gospel belonged only to the Jews. It took a vision from God (Acts 10:9-16) to convince Peter that Gentiles should hear about Jesus, too. As missionaries journeyed into foreign lands, they faced unique challenges. Over the next several months, Degrees of Kelvin will explore some of those challenges while better equipping kids to evangelize in their own “alien worlds,” such as school or sports teams.

Like Kelvin, we hope they show compassion and patience.
Like Laney, we hope they use wisdom and creativity.

Most of all, we hope they stand boldly for Jesus, shining His light in a dark world that’s desperate for God’s truth.

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” —Revelation 7:9
