MPAA Rating: PG
Set during World War II in a small Mississippi town, this movie highlights how Willie Morris, 9, comes out of his shell with the help of a feisty little dog. Willie is a bookworm who doesn’t have many friends and gets picked on by bullies. After his older and closest pal leaves to fight in the war, Willie gets Skip for his birthday. About 10 cases of crude language and a scary story including a witch may not be the best for young viewers. But, based on real events, My Dog Skip makes some good points about loyalty, redemption and not judging people based on their looks. Subtle scenes also show reverence toward God and the sweetness of a close family as well as community.
Distributor: Warner Brothers
Actors: Frankie Muniz, Kevin Bacon, Diane Lane, Luke Wilson and Caitlin Wachs.
