Kenai, the youngest of three brothers, is part of a native American tribe from 10,000 years ago. When Kenai receives his ceremonial totem (a charm given by the tribes shaman), he’s disappointed that it’s a totem of a grizzly representing love. Kenai hates bears.

When he discovers that a bear has stolen his basket of fish, he takes chase with his brothers, Sitka and Denahi, close behind. When Sitka realizes Kenai is about to be killed by the angry bear, he sacrifices his own life to save his brother. To get revenge, Kenai tracks down the bear and kills it. Instantly, the Great Spirits change Kenai into a bear. Now Kenai must escape his own brother, Denahi, who is on the hunt. Kenai is joined by a young bear looking for his mother and two slow-witted moose.

Sacrifice and love are demonstrated in this film. Unfortunately, so is an unbelief in the true God. Instead of worshiping the one, true God, the tribe people worship animal and human spirits they believe live together in the sky and control what happens on earth. Isaiah 44:6 says: “I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no god.” Brother Bear is no Lion King or Monsters Inc. Instead, it will be easily forgotten and bearly worth the time. Clubhouse readers can find lots of better things to do than watch this messed-up movie.
