MPAA Rating: PG
Colby is a young boy who is secretly caring for his
father's dog, Daisy, and her puppies in an old,
abandoned house. Colby's father becomes angry when
he finds out that Daisy has puppies of a mixed breed.
He plans to sell them as purebred puppies, leaving
only one puppy behind. Colby sneaks back to the
house later that night and takes the puppy to his secret
fort in the woods where he secretly raises the puppy—
named Benji. When the pup grows up, Benji and Colby
set out to rescue Daisy. Along the way, they meet a pair
of animal control officers, a clumsy mutt and an old
bachelor.
Benji: Off the Leash! is a lighthearted tale about
kindness, friendship, courage, perseverance and doing
the right thing. There are scenes that show a troubled
family, some drinking, and a few insulting names used.
But overall, this family-friendly film is a charming story
about the adventures of a remarkable dog and his
friends.
