MPAA Rating: PG
Marty the Zebra lives in Central Park Zoo, but he wants
to run free in the wilds of Africa. Marty has no idea what
it would be like to live in Africa, but it sounds fun. His
friends Alex the Lion, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the
Hippo try to convince Marty that the zoo is the good life.
They lie around, eat all the food they want and get
attention from their fans.
Marty doesn't listen to his friends, and he escapes from
the zoo with help from some crazy penguins. Marty's
friends try to rescue him and bring him back to the zoo,
but an animal control officer captures them all and
ships them to a wildlife preserve in Kenya. The crazy
penguins hijack the ship, and Marty, Melman, Alex and
Gloria find themselves adrift at sea. They wind up in the
wilds of Madagascar, where Marty gets to learn what it's
really like to be a “wild” animal.
There is a lot of cartoon violence in Madagascar,
as well as a few mild profanities. There is also a lot of
bathroom humor that makes the film less enjoyable.
The characters in Madagascar are loyal friends,
even when it means they have to ignore their instincts.
Madagascar is silly and mostly fun, especially for
adults and older kids.
