Eight Below

MPAA Rating: PG
Distributor: Walt Disney Pictures
Director: Frank Marshall
Starring: Paul Walker as Jerry Shepard, Bruce Greenwood as Dr. Davis McLaren, Moon Bloodgood as Katie and Jason Biggs as Cooper.

Jerry Shepard encounters risky adventures because of his job, which requires him and his companions to lead researchers to the remote places of Antarctica. When Jerry and Davis McLaren, a scientist searching for a rare meteorite from Mercury, get caught in a storm, Jerry's loyal dogs bravely drag the two men to safety. Before the dogs can be rewarded for their friendship, a storm forces the two men to abandon their rescuers. The rest of the movie is the story of Jerry's determination to find his eight dogs.

The movie begins with a mushy kiss. Three bad words are spoken, and God's name is misused once. Jerry and those around him drink beer and bet for junk food. Young children may get upset by some of the fights between animals, and the movie has a few sad moments.

Eight Below also shows admirable examples of friendship, commitment, and hope. Most families will enjoy going on an adventure with this touching film.
