Aquamarine

MPAA Rating: PG
Distributor:20th Century Fox
Director: Elizabeth Allen
Starring: Emma Roberts as Claire, Joanna “JoJo” Levesque as Hailey, Sara Paxton as Aquamarine, Jake McDorman as Raymond, Arielle Kebbel as Cecilia and Claudia Karvan as Ginny.

Claire and Hailey have been best friends in junior high, but Hailey's mom plans to move her family to Australia in five days. At a sleepover during a severe thunderstorm, the two girls jokingly pray for the “gods of hurricanes” to keep Hailey in Florida. The next day, they find a stranded mermaid named Aquamarine, who promises to fulfill their wish if they can help her prove to her father — in just three days — that true love exists. Otherwise, she'll have to marry the merman her father has chosen. Aquamarine is granted legs during the day, and Claire and Hailey begin to coach her on how to attract a man — particularly, the cute lifeguard Raymond both girls have a crush on. But their rival Cecilia plots to win Raymond for herself. Will she uncover Aquamarine's fishy family background and dash the girls' dearest hopes?

This movie mixes the bad with the good as friends unselfishly help each other face obstacles. Claire and Hailey get their tips for attracting males from teen magazines that contain highly inappropriate material. Beach scenes show a lot of skin, and rough language often includes taking God's name in vain. Clubhouse kids would not learn how to develop healthy guy/girl relationships from watching this movie and may want to avoid these stormy waters.
