MPAA Rating:G
In a world of cars and trucks, racing rookie Lightning
McQueen has taken the Piston Cup by storm. Amid the
thunder of roaring exhausts, the shiny No. 95 looks set
to steal the championship. But on the way to an
important race, Lightning's transport truck, Mack, falls
asleep. Lightning is accidentally ejected from his trailer
and abandoned in the middle of nowhere.
In the small town of Radiator Springs, Lightning meets
Doc, Sally, Mater and an entire cast of country cars. As
he races with time to get to the big race-off, Lightning
discovers that he has no real friends because he
always puts himself first. As events unfold, Lightning
must make a choice between making friends or making
it big.
Cars is packed with plenty of positive messages.
Lightning learns to slow down and appreciate life. He
also learns to think of others ahead of himself. Themes
of friendship, kindness and sacrifice are also
emphasized. Unfortunately, Cars contains a few
misuses of the Lord's name. Some characters are rude
to each other, and there are some intense car crashes
that might frighten younger children. Still, kids and
parents alike will enjoy watching this fast-paced tale of
friendship.
