Monster House

MPAA Rating:PG
Distributor:Columbia Pictures
Director:Gil Kenan
Starring:the vocal talents of Mitchel Musso as DJ, Sam Lerner as Chowder, and Spencer Locke as Jenny.

On the day before Halloween, DJ and Chowder go to Mr. Nebbercrackers house to retrieve a basketball and their old cranky neighbor scolds them and then falls over dead. The children realize that Mr. Nebbercracker's house is haunted. It has windows for eyes and a red carpet for a tongue, and is haunted by the spirit of Mr. Nebbercracker's dead wife. The house becomes angry because of Mr. Nebbercracker's death and several other sad events, and it plans to hurt the trick-or-treaters that come on Halloween. DJ and Chowder join with their friend Jenny to stop the house before it hurts anyone who happens to ring the doorbell to get candy.

While the kids may be brave and willing to try to stop evil, there are many not-so-good themes in the movie. The film is filled with violence as the house often tries to hurt people by “eating” them, and several characters are hurt throughout the movie by cars, newspapers, basketballs and objects in the house. Gross humor often occurs when the children or their parents make inappropriate comments, and the kids use some rude language. Monster House may be a cartoon, but its morbid plot and inappropriate characters might yell “Do Not Enter” to Clubhouse kids.
