Barnyard

MPAA Rating:PG
Distributor:Paramount Pictures
Director:Steve Oedekerk
Starring:the vocal talents of Kevin James as Otis; Courteney Cox as Daisy; and Sam Elliott as Ben

Otis is a party animal. Ben, Otis' father, spends his days protecting the other animals in the barnyard and trying to convince Otis to be responsible. Otis, however, enjoys being reckless and several times almost blows the cover of the talking animals. After a tragic coyote attack, Otis must accept his responsibility, almost overnight, and defend the other animals in his father's place.

While Otis and his friends are hanging out on the party scene, Clubhouse readers may find it difficult to ignore the animal's use of milk as alcohol. Throughout this, however, Otis learns that life is not one big party. The rest of the movie reflects a more responsible Otis. There is some barnyard violence, particularly between farm animals and coyotes.

This farmer flick may have some party scenes, but it is surprisingly excellent in its lack of bad words or other inappropriate scenes. Otis is encouraged to be responsible and trustworthy and begins to understand what that means. Not only is Barnyard mostly clean, it is also filled with good comedy. All in all, this movie is a knee-slapping good time.
