After being saved by a young girl named Fern, Wilbur
the piglet must face the unfriendly animals in Uncle
Homer's barn. He finally manages to make a friend-with
a spider named Charlotte. But one of the animals tells
Wilbur that he will end up being Christmas dinner.
Charlotte promises to stick by her new friend and spells
out a way that her web might save his life.
Charlotte's Web is a story about friendship.
Charlotte comes up with a plan to save Wilbur and
never gives up even when it means putting herself in
danger. Fern's dad eventually understands his
daughter's feelings and tells her, “I'm proud of you,
honey.”
The film contains moments of slapstick violence where
no one gets hurt. And there is some toilet humor in the
barnyard. Fern shows disrespect to her father while
fighting to get her way. She also sneaks the pig into
school and lies to her teacher.
Kids and families will want to visit the magical barn
where an unlikely friendship between a pig and a
spider develops, and Wilbur expresses wonder over
the "ordinary miracles" of everyday life.
