Get Smart

MPAA Rating:PG-13
Distributor:Warner Bros.
Director:Peter Segal
Starring:Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart; Anne Hathaway as Agent 99; Dwayne Johnson as Agent 23; Alan Arkin as The Chief; Terence Stamp as Siegfried.

Maxwell Smart works for the super-secret government agency CONTROL as a surveillance guy. He dreams of becoming a real spy, but even after passing the exam, he is told that he is too valuable in surveillance to let go. His dreams seem to be crushed until the evil KAOS organization infiltrates CONTROL and begins bumping off spies! Now, as Agent 86, partnered with the pretty Agent 99, Max must save the day. He quickly uncovers KAOS's dastardly plot, but no one believes him. With his nerdy know-how and his goofy gadgets, Max has to prove that he's got what it takes to be a super spy.

Once Max gets his dream job, he puts his life on the line to do it well, even risking his own life to save Agent 99. Although both doubted him, both Agent 99 and his boss eventually come to respect him. Max is a dedicated, hard worker, and it pays off.

Unfortunately, the movie has many parts with inappropriate romantic humor and immodest clothing. While some of the violence is slapstick, some of it is pretty realistically painful-looking. And bad language, crude jokes and negative themes pop up throughout.

Clubhouse readers should probably spy out the original series on DVD and watch that rather than sit through this wanna-be remake.
