It's not just that Trevor Anderson is fascinated by rocks,
lava and seismic activity; he also feels that he owes it to
his brother Max to carry on the “progressive
volcanology” he began before his disappearance 10
years before. With a lack of scientific breakthroughs,
Trevor's lab is about to be shut down.
Distracted by the bad news, Trevor nearly forgets that
his nephew Sean-Max's son-is about to arrive for a 10-
day visit. Despite years of inactivity, one of Max's
seismic monitors suddenly starts uploading data. It
seems that the tectonic plates have arranged
themselves in precisely the same configuration they
were in when Max disappeared. Trevor and Sean join
forces with mountain guide named Hannah, and the
three embark on a quest to unlock the mystery of Max's
departure. Perhaps they'll even uncover a passageway
that will allow them to Journey to the Center of the
Earth.
Trevor is a good role model to Sean and communicates
that his father loved him. Trevor puts his own life in
danger in order to save Sean and Hannah. Also, Trevor
encourages Sean to not spend so much time in front of
his video games and experience life. Hannah's clothes
are immodest at times, and some scenes may be scary
for young children. But overall this movie is a journey
worth taking.
