Nim's Island

Eleven-year-old Nim lives on a tropical Island with her marine-biologist father, Jack. Her favorite author is the adventurous Alex Rover, who turns out to be a woman who is afraid of everything. Alex contacts Jack to research a new book and Nim receives the message.

It turns out that Nim's father is caught in the middle of a dangerous storm and is having trouble getting back to his daughter. Tourists are overtaking Nim's island, and she is trying everything she can to save it while her father is gone. Realizing that Nim needs her help, Alex courageously decides to face her many fears and rescue her.

This movie contains some violent storms and a few unwise and potentially dangerous choices by Nim. Also, Nim's father should not have left her on the island alone for two days. But the main message is that courage is an important part of life and we should do everything we can to help other people, even when it requires leaving our comfortable houses for a scary, lizard-infested island.
