Y2K A-OK in Odyssey
by Kathy Wierenga

Odyssey Times reporter Dale Jacob stopped by town hall to ask the 2000 Celebration decorating committee what its resolutions are for the new millennium.

Bernard Walton: “Maude tells me I should start exercising more. Maybe I’ll run five miles a day . . . or maybe just one mile . . . a week. Nah. But I’ll cut down on my butter intake. Except I like butter. Actually, maybe I’ll just sneeze less.”

Eugene Meltsner: “I have resolved not to break any resolutions this year. Therefore I refuse to make any.”

Doris Rathbone: “I resolve to be nicer to people . . . as long as they’re nice to me, and I’m in a good mood, and it’s sunny outside, and somebody gives me a coupon for all-you-can-eat cheesecake.”

Harlow Doyle: “What’s a resolve? As in resolving a case I’ve already solved? That’s silly. Although maybe I could do it quicker the second time. Hmm.”
