Adopt a Plot
by Kathy Wierenga

The month of May brings the sight of fresh greenery and the smell of budding flowers. And no place is prettier than McAllister Park. In an effort to increase the beauty of Odyssey, citizens have been encouraged to adopt a 5-foot square plot of land in the park. In this area the adoptive gardener can plant whatever shrubs and flowers he or she chooses.

“The park has never looked better,” said former mayor Tom Riley. “But it may take a few years for people to appreciate my apple tree.”

Other plots already look beautiful, overflowing with colorful tulips, daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths. Additional flowers are yet to appear. Local detective, Harlow Doyle, said his were “unseeable” since he’s planting camouflage.
