"I’m trying to get everyone to develop healthier habits," Connie Kendall claimed on her radio show. "During this time of year, it’s easy to be lazy."
Candid Conversations with Connie can be heard weekly on Kids Radio. For the month of February, she is focusing on health-related issues: dental hygiene, exercise, good eating habits and proper rest.
Here are a few of Connie’s health tips. She hopes everyone will get in the habit of following them this month, so the healthy trend continues throughout the year:
o Eat five servings of fruits and/or vegetables each day.
o Drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Water is the most important nutrient for a healthy body.
o Floss your teeth every day. And brush twice. Your dentist will be thrilled.
o Start each morning with a well-balanced breakfast. By the time breakfast comes around, you haven’t eaten for 10 to 12 hours. Your brain needs the jumpstart, and your body needs the energy to get through a busy morning at school.
o Drink plenty of milk. Kids need a lot of calcium to make their bones grow strong.
o Spend less time watching TV and more time exercising. Go running or play team games with your friends. Maybe you can even take advantage of the colder weather by going sledding or ice skating with your family.
