The Odyssey Photography Contest, sponsored by the Odyssey Times, was off and running last week—as were the nearly 100 contestants vying for the prize. A new camera will be awarded to the grand prize winner in each of the following categories: nature, action and people.
Harlow Doyle decided to concentrate on taking a nature photograph.
"I’ve been trying to take a picture of my favorite piece of grass," he said, "but the rest of the grass keeps getting in the way."
Walter Shakespeare is entering the action category.
"I have a marvelous shot of Mr. Blackgaard being bombarded with fruit at his last performance. Although it’s difficult to tell it’s him with all that cantaloupe on his face."
Nick Mulligan plans on submitting an entry to the people category.
"It was supposed to be a picture of my sister, but it ended up just being a picture of my thumb," he said. "But, why not turn it in anyway? It’s a good-looking thumb."
Best wishes to all the contestants. May the best photo win!
