According to the Sundial Ratings Board, BTV now attracts more viewers than any other local television show. Sundial reported this is especially notable because BTV is a Saturday morning program. Saturday mornings are notorious for low ratings, and BTV has been No. 2 in the ratings for years.
Guy Feldstein, manager of the station that produces BTV, finds the news exciting but not surprising.
“I always knew BTV was a good idea,” he said. “I think a lot of the success has been my financial leadership. I’m always pushing those guys to keep it quality, but cheap.”
Feldstein says the station is flooded with positive responses after every new BTV episode.
He specifically pointed to a letter a young girl sent after watching BTV: Obedience. “She said she obeys her parents more now because she keeps thinking of that episode,” Feldstein said.
Host Bernard Walton doesn’t take credit for the show’s popularity. “I’m as happy as a beaver in a lumberyard when I think of where God has taken BTV. It’s far beyond anything that I could’ve hoped.”
The show’s future looks bright. Connie Kendall, longtime assistant on BTV, will be directing her first show next month—BTV: Unity.
“I’m kinda nervous,” Kendall says. “I mean, I’ve practiced a lot, but there’s so much to think about. Bernard says directing is as bad as herding cats, but I think our team will pull it off.”
