Whit's End Inspires Patriotism
A new ice cream creation at Whit’s End has inspired people all around Odyssey to find creative ways to celebrate Independence Day. The concoction, called the “Star-Spangled Sundae,” is certainly a colorful way to celebrate the Fourth. It features two big scoops of vanilla ice cream, fresh blueberries, strawberry syrup, marshmallow topping, whipped cream, and red, white and blue sprinkles.

The taste surprised long-time employee Connie Kendall.

“I was a little hesitant at first because it seemed like such a weird combination of flavors,” she said. “But now that I’ve tried it, I can’t get enough!”

Fellow employee Nick Mulligan reports that customers seem to love it. “I’ve served more of these sundaes than I can count!” he said. “Everyone keeps coming back for more.”

The J & J Antique shop is also showing patriotism by decorating the shop with large flags and offering various antiques from the Revolutionary War period. Owners Jack and Joanne Allen said the shop would display artwork depicting famous moments in U.S. history.

At city hall, Mayor Margaret Faye said that the traditional Odyssey Independence Day parade would feature a float showing Odyssey’s part in the nation’s history.
