Hey, everybody! Alex Jefferson here, back with another
update. Here’s what’s happened so far this month.
2/1/05 — I sent a letter to “Candid Conversations With
Connie,” asking, “What’s the big deal about Valentine’s
Day? I mean, you spend hours on February 13 signing
a bunch of silly cards to send to people. What’s the
point?” I signed the letter, “All Valentined Out,” so
Connie wouldn’t know it was me.
2/2/05 — Connie came up to me at Whit’s End and told
me she’s going to record a “Kids’ Radio” show to tell
me what Valentine’s Day is all about. I guess I should
have typed the letter.
2/5/05 — Connie and Whit asked if I would review the
script for the “Kids’ Radio” show. Cool. Did you know a
man named St. Valentine actually lived? They asked
me to come up with a title for the show. I suggested “St.
Valentine: Beyond Pink.” They said they’d think about
it.
2/8/05 — On recording day, Connie asked me to help
her direct. After each scene I told the actors, “That’s
good, but try doing it faster with more intensity.” I
remember hearing my school’s drama teacher say that.
The story tells how St. Valentine fought for marriage.
And I thought Valentine’s Day was just about hearts
and candy. Instead it’s about this hero who stood up for
something important. Makes me want to celebrate by
giving someone a box of chocolates — or at least
eating one.
That’s all for now. Be sure to tune in to hear “The Last ‘I
Do’ “ February 12 on “Kids’ Radio.”
A.J. out!
