4/1/05 — Something is UP. No, I don't have a sticky
“caps lock” button on my keyboard. I mean something is
definitely UP. Check out these facts:
- Last Wednesday I spotted Mr. Whittaker putting a
bunch of boxes in his truck.
- Connie says the Imagination Station (I.S.) was left
on all night twice this week. Mr. Whittaker never leaves
the I.S. running overnight.
- I overheard Mr. Walton say that someone is
downloading a lot of programs on the I.S.
- A month ago, I heard Mr. Whittaker tell Mr. Riley
he's really missing his grandkids.
April 2 — 10:14 a.m.
Mr. Whittaker told me there's nothing to worry about.
That worries me.
My theory — and I'm pretty sure I'm right — is that Mr.
Whittaker is planning to close Whit's End and move
closer to his daughter and grandkids. Can you imagine
the town of Odyssey without Whit's End? This is AWFUL
NEWS OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! (Oops! My “caps lock”
key did stick that time.)
We've got to stop Mr. Whittaker, and you can help! Sign
my online petition to keep Mr. Whittaker in Odyssey.
The future of Whit's End depends on you!
April 2 — 5:14 p.m.
Fifty kids arrived at Whit's End with signs and postcards.
I brought the online petition — 357 names! Some kids
cried. Mr. Whittaker was surprised, but he said, “I'm not
moving!”
Everyone looked at me like they were going to run me
out of town. Fortunately Mr. Whittaker stopped them.
“Alex,” he said, “we need to have a little talk about
jumping to conclusions.”
Major oops! Boy am I embarrassed! But I have to
wonder, what is going on?
