LEGO City
11/03/05 - Alex Jefferson here. After school I went to Whit's End Connellsville. Out of boredom I began playing LEGOs. Before I knew it, I had built a car. I thought the car needed something, so I built a bridge. The bridge was pretty cool, but it really needed a tollbooth. As I continued building, I thought of more and more ideas until I was hit by the ultimate vision: build a life-sized, out-of-this-world LEGO city!

I had just started my city when my cousin Cal stopped by. “Shouldn't you be doing something more important with your time - like playing video games?” he asked.

His words got me thinking. Why am I doing this? What is the point? How do birds and airplanes keep from running into each other during flight? I shook off his discouragement and continued to build.

A kid from my school stopped by. “What are you doing?” he asked.

“I have this vision of building an entire city out of LEGOs,” I said. “Go ahead and laugh if you want. But could you please do it where I can't see you?”

“Cool!” he said. “Can I help?” He got right to work on a skate park. The more we built, the more people joined us. Soon we had a team of more than 20.

That's when Cal showed up again. He looked bored, so I asked if he wanted to help us.

“Sure!” he said. “I have this great idea for an action- packed amusement park with eight roller coasters!”

I'm glad I didn't let Cal discourage me from my vision. God gives us even bigger visions than LEGO construction - like telling others about Him. But this afternoon my vision helped me make new friends and use my creativity.
