7/5/06—I'm bored, and it's HOT!
7/6/06—Cal and I tried to fry an egg on the
sidewalk. It just ran all over and made a mess. Mom
made me spray it off with the hose, so I guess we
ended up poaching an egg on the sidewalk.
7/7/06—I went to Whit's End, and it was
packed. I don't think it was a coincidence that the two
most popular Imagination Station programs today were
Robert Peary's voyage to the North Pole and the
program of some scientist who studied penguins in
Antarctica.
7/8/06—Things you shouldn't do when it's 102
degrees outside:
- sled
- eat spicy foods
- run fast
- run slow
- move in any direction away from a working air
conditioner.
7/9/06—The temperature was only 97 degrees
today. I broke out my mittens and toboggan cap.
7/10/06—Mr. Whittaker set up a series of
sprinklers in the lawn outside Whit's End this afternoon.
We ran through them. It was a lot of fun. I was even glad
that it was so hot. We couldn't have had that kind of fun
in January. I realized there's no use complaining.
Summer is summer—heat and all. And it's still my
favorite time of year.
