| Q. |
I heard horoscopes are bad. But if they are bad, why are they in newspapers and magazines? Amanda, 12 Minnesota |
| A. |
Keep those ears open, because you heard right! Horoscopes are bad. And so is anything else that takes your eyes off of God and His plan for your life. Horoscopes, Ouija boards, psychic hot lines and Magic 8-balls may seem like fun and games, but their roots are wicked. The devil knows if he opened a door showing us all of his evil, we’d turn away. So he cracks open a window and makes things seem harmless. But once we’re hooked, we can start following the harmful advice instead of God’s Word. The Bible is clear: “You shall have no other gods before me” (Deuteronomy 5:7). Unfortunately, many things that are bad for us are very popular. Newspapers, magazines and television stations make a lot of money running horoscopes and advertisements for psychic hot lines. Don’t be fooled. Horoscopes were started by people seeking guidance from the stars. But why trust the stars when you can rely on the One who made the stars? |
