| Q. |
I have a terrible habit. I always bite my nails.
How can I stop? Candice, 10 Colorado |
| A. |
Have you tried covering your nails with cherry tomatoes? You'd sure have to think twice about biting into those vegetables.
Actually, doing something to make your nails seem unappealing is a good way to break the habit. Buy a special nontoxic solution at the drugstore that gives your nails a bitter taste. You can also try starting a new habit to wipe out the old one. Or, set a goal for yourself to make the hard work of habit-breaking a little bit easier. Buy some pretty polish at the store (with Mom and Dad's approval) and mark the day on your calendar when you'll be able to paint your growing nails. However you choose to take the bite out of nail-biting, with a little persistence you'll find that breaking bad habits is a snap. |
