| Q. |
I’m really nervous about going to my first overnight camp. What should I do? Rosalyn, 12 Wisconsin |
| A. |
Being away from your family, friends and familiar surroundings for the first time can be a little scary. Fortunately, because you know Jesus, you can trust that He’ll always be with you—even at camp. One of the best things you can do to make yourself feel better is to bring along some things from home. A favorite pillow, special stuffed animal or personal diary may make you feel more comfortable. Ask your parents and all your friends to write to you while you’re away. Reading encouraging words from somebody who loves you can be a great pick-me-up! And remember this: the first day of camp is usually the hardest. Once you meet new people, adjust to the area and get into a routine, you’ll probably have so much fun you’ll forget to be nervous. |
