Questions & Answers

Q. I have a lot of bad habits like picking my lips, cracking my toes and biting my fingernails. I do these things especially when I'm watching a movie. I want to stop, but I can't. Can you help me?

A. Habits form easily and can be hard to break. But you can do it! Try these ideas:
  1. Pray to God to give you strength to get rid of these behaviors. He will help!
  2. Ask your parents to start giving you your allowance in dimes. Label a jar “Bad Habits Change.” Every time you catch yourself picking, cracking or biting, put a dime in the jar. You can even get your whole family involved. If a family member catches you, another dime goes in the jar.

When you haven’t had to put a dime in the jar for three weeks, celebrate by using the money to go out for ice cream! You’ll get a cool treat for your success, but the best reward will be saying goodbye to bad habits.
