Questions & Answers

Q. I am nervous about my mom dying. I often wake up at night hot and sweaty. Just thinking about it makes me cry—even in school. What should I do?

A. The idea of losing a loved one is very scary. Many kids worry about a parent dying. So how can you keep these feelings from causing constant worry?

First of all, remember the character of God. He is concerned with every detail of your life. Your mom is in His loving, protective hands at all times. Matthew 10:29 says, "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father." Nothing can happen to your mom without God allowing it. And if He cares about little birds, think of how much more he cares about you and your mom.

Also, try talking to your mom about your fears. Take time to pray about them together. You can trust God to take care of your mom. And if you both know Him, you can look forward to spending eternity together!
