| Q. |
I know the Bible says you shouldn't have more than one husband or wife. But my dad says if he dies, my mom can remarry if she wants to. Wouldn't that be having more than one husband?

Good observation! The Bible does say that marriage is a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24). But it’s also a covenant, or binding promise, that God created for this world. Jesus said in heaven there is no marriage—all believers are His bride. Some early Christians must have been asking this same question, because Paul cleared it up in 1 Corinthians 7:39: “A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.” Sometimes it’s hard to know what is right. Whenever you have questions, go straight to the source—God’s Word!
