Questions & Answers

Q. My brother and I never get along, and I don't have any friends who do things with me. What should I do?
Chandler, 9
Alabama

A. You’ve probably already thought about an obvious solution. You have a friend available to you all the time—your brother. You and your brother may have a hard time getting along, but it’s not impossible to build a strong friendship. Your brother is a friend who will always be there, so it’s definitely worth investing in a relationship with him.

Instead of throwing your hands up because the two of you don’t get along, look for ways you can be friends. Spend time together doing things you both enjoy.

Think about building a friendship with your brother as a training ground for future friendships. By befriending him, you’re gaining valuable practice for making other friends. God may want to teach you about friendship starting with your own family. After that, He’s sure to provide other friends, too.
