Questions & Answers

Q. I’m nervous about my end-of-the-grade test, because I’m worried about not having enough time to finish. How can I get faster and still not make any mistakes?
Kelsey, 9
North Carolina

A. Taking tests is tough, especially big ones. The best way to overcome test anxiety is to attack the problem: fear of failure. God doesn’t want you to be afraid. Psalm 118:6-7 says: "The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The LORD is with me; he is my helper."

Now as you prepare for your test, make sure to review your notes several nights in a row before the exam. Ask your teacher about anything you don’t understand. When you sit down to take the test, first answer all the questions you know off the top of your head. Don’t get bogged down on one question. If you’re stumped on a question, continue on and come back to it later. With proper preparation and God as your helper, you’ll be ready to go!
