| Q. |
I celebrate Christmas because it's Jesus' birthday, but some of my friends celebrate it just to get all the gifts. Then they make fun of me for celebrating it for the real reason. What should I do?

What a great opportunity to witness to your friends! They’re obviously noticing that you live your life for Christ. Way to go! But your unsaved friends may feel unfamiliar with the true meaning of Christmas and make fun because they don’t know what else to say. When you’re teased, don’t react. Politely explain why you celebrate the way you do. You could also ask your parents to host a party for your friends where the true meaning of Christmas is celebrated. You could send out invitations, play fun games and tell a story that shares the gospel. Then you might pass out small treats and Christmas cards, expressing the joy of Christ’s birth. The Bible says Satan “has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:4). You can’t expect nonbelievers to understand your convictions. Use this holiday season as an opportunity to shine some light into a dark world! |
