On September 19, 1997, I found out my dad had a tumor in his colon and he needed surgery. My mom, younger brother, Daniel, and I were really scared. My best friend and her family came all the way from Sacramento to be with us when Dad went to the hospital.
After the tumor was taken out and examined, the doctors said it was cancerous. They also found spots on my dad’s liver. I thought, No, Lord! Don’t do this to us!
The doctors told us he had 12 months to live. But God didn’t want it that way. Now, two and a half years later, we are all together. My dad still has treatments and hospital appointments but as Psalm 23 says, “Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
People all over the country still pray for us. Our family has grown closer to each other as well as to God. We are trying to rely totally on Him, because we know He is constantly taking care of us.
