Answered Prayer

I sat crying on my bed, looking at the bare walls of my new room. My family had just moved to Poland as missionaries. Moving was hard for me and my younger brother and sister. We had lived in the same house our whole lives. I missed all my friends and relatives.

One of the differences about living in Poland was we were home-schooled. I liked home schooling, but I was lonely. I made some Polish friends, but I wanted to have a friend who knew about life in North America.

I decided to start praying for an American or Canadian friend who was my age. After a few months, I heard an American family with an 11-year-old lived in my city. I thought for sure this was my answer to prayer. However, I soon found out my potential friend was a boy instead of a girl, so I was disappointed.

After many more months of praying for a girlfriend, I heard an American girl and her family were moving close by. I also heard she had the same name and was born in the same month as me. I couldn’t believe it! The family wasn’t coming until June, and it was only March. I kept praying, and soon they were in Poland.

The new family came over to my house for supper. We had lots of fun together! My new friend and I saw each other often. I learned God answers prayer . . . even an 11-year-old girl’s.
