Last March a nightmare came true for me: My mom almost died. Shortly after lunch, my mom suddenly lay down on the couch, saying she had stomach cramps. The next time I looked, she was lying on the floor and saying she was in intense pain. She called her doctor and then my dad, telling him he needed to come home right away. By this time I was very worried.
When my dad arrived, my mom told him to call 911. She went to the hospital in an ambulance. We found out that she was bleeding inside from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy [when a baby develops outside the uterus]. My mom had to have emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. The surgeon told her, "You did a good job of trying to bleed to death!"
But all that happened was part of God’s plan. Weeks beforehand, God led my mom to pray for her life for the sake of her children. My mom also had a growing sense that something was wrong with her body. God had it all planned out before it happened. My mom is fine now, and I am very thankful that even though the tiny baby inside her died, God showed mercy and spared my mom's life.
