The Lost Boys are from Sudan, Africa. They are called the Lost Boys (like in Peter Pan) because they were orphans and have wandered around together, taking care of each other since thy were 5 to 7 years old. Now there are 20,000 of them between the ages of 16 and 25. They lived in refugee camps, but some of them have come to the United States.
A small group of them stayed at our house when they first came. For the past year, my church has been working with them. I took some of them to the zoo with my dad in Chicago. They like to play like kids.
Many of the Lost Boys believe in Jesus Christ. They are very respectful of other people. Sometimes we are able to help one of them, like by giving him winter boots. My dad will apologize for not having boots for all of them. They always say, "No problem. You have done a good thing for my brother, so you have done a good thing for me."
You learn a lot by their example more than their words. I hope they will get a good education and have nice Christian people to help them.
