The Roman Tribune: Jesus Dead...Or Is He?

based on the Gospel accounts
It has been reported that Jesus, a Jewish carpenter from Galilee, was crucified on charges of blasphemy and claiming to be a king. Let’s take a closer look.
Apparently, Jesus was betrayed by His followers, arrested, tried and then crucified. A man named Joseph of Arimathea, who is on the Jewish council and had disagreed with the decision to crucify Jesus, went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Pilate granted his request.
Joseph and Nicodemus, both followers of Jesus, wrapped His body in spices and clean strips of linen and laid it in Joseph’s new tomb. They had a large stone rolled in front of the entrance and left.
Two women--Mary Magdalene, from whom Jesus had cast out demons, and Mary the mother of Jesus--were watching as they did this.
Very early on the morning after the Sabbath, the women mentioned above, along with Salome, went to the tomb with spices they had prepared. When they arrived at the tomb, there was a violent earthquake and an angel with the appearance of lightning and clothes like snow rolled away the stone from the entrance of the tomb and sat on it.
Those guarding the tomb collapsed like dead men. The angel said, “Do not be afraid, for I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.”
The women were filled with fear and joy, and they ran to tell Jesus’ disciples. While on the way, Jesus appeared to them. The women fell at His feet and worshiped Him.
At the same time, some Roman guards came to the chief priests and told them all that had happened. After the chief priests assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave the guards a large sum of money and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ ” The guards took the money and did as they were instructed.
Meanwhile, the eleven remaining disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain that Jesus had designated. When they saw Jesus, they worshiped Him. But some were doubtful.
Jesus then said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
