Torn Curtain Quesadilla

by James Holt

“Jesus shouted again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit. Suddenly, the curtain of the sanctuary was split in two from top to bottom; the earth quaked and the rocks were split.” —Matthew 27:51

The temple curtain separated normal people from the Holy of Holies, where God’s presence dwelt. When Jesus died for our sins, He brought us close to God. We don’t have to be outsiders anymore.

1. Place tortilla on a microwave-safe plate. Cover tortilla with shredded cheese.
2. Place another tortilla on top of shredded cheese. Cover second tortilla with more shredded cheese.
3. Decorate your quesadilla with colorful toppings. According to Exodus 36:35, the temple curtain had “blue, purple, and scarlet yarn,” with angels in the design.
4. Cook quesadilla in the microwave until cheese melts (about 1 minute). Let it cool before slicing.
5. With a parent’s help, slice your quesadilla curtain in half, then tear off bite-sized pieces.
