Solution to Case of the Missing Train: An Emily Jones Solve-It-Yourself Mystery

by Caleb, 10, from Michigan

I pulled Matthew’s train out of the tunnel.

“How did you know it was in there?” Matthew said.

“Actually,” I said, “it was a guess. Mr. Whittaker said the trains run on batteries. Your train must have been left running, and the batteries died while it was in the tunnel.”

“Thanks, Emily,” Matthew said.

“It’s Mr. Whittaker you should thank,” I said. “He gave me the clue.”

“No problem,” Mr. Whittaker said. “Now, let’s see if we can find some extra batteries. I’d love to see that train in action!”
