Solution to Sundae Sunday: An Emily Jones Solve-It-Yourself Mystery

by Hannah, 13, from Wyoming

“Really, who?” Barrett asked.

“The culprit is... John!” I said.

“What? No! I said I was allergic to chocolate, remember?” John grumbled.

“Exactly!” I said. “In Sunday school you received a coupon for a turtle sundae, which has chocolate sauce. You wouldn’t have taken the coupon if you were truly allergic to chocolate.”

“Well... yeah, OK, it was me,” John confessed. “Mrs. Jones's cake is so good, I couldn’t resist. Before church started, I snuck a piece and hid it somewhere else to eat later. I’m really sorry, Mrs. Jones.”

“You must not steal. You must not act deceptively or lie to one another.” —Leviticus 19:11

“It’s OK. Just don’t do it again,” Mom said.

“Let’s eat!” Matthew said.

And that was the conclusion to another mystery solved by the Jones & Parker Detective Agency!
